Acoustic

I was going through some old 2-track recordings.

"De nuttelozen van de nacht" aka "Les paumes du petit matin" aka "the useless of the night (I guess) ".

My (ex) acoustic band from Belgium. Nostalgia, that's for sure.

Have a listen and a laugh, we never took ourselves very serious though.

Identical

The thing with my accomodation: All the flats are exactly identical
(at first sight).

The problem: There's really no fundamental problem with that.

My problem: I frequently get desoriented whenever I enter somebody else's flat. It is my flat, oh no, it isn't. You get the picture

Citytrippin'

So I went on a citytrip.

The british museum of science was great! No entrance fee, 5 floors, thousands of items, rockets, computers, cars, iron lungs, dna, steam engines, an euthanasia machine (no, really)...
Really nice.

After my visit I had a walk through Hyde Parc (it's absolutely Huge!). The hot chocolat at Lido was a must (burned my tongue though). There was the Diana memorial fountain, the stereotype joggers and skaters, dozens of squirrels, hundreds of people just having a stroll.
It's a real stress-absorbing, perfectly maintained, stereotypical english, autumn-ish parc.

School is alright, I've got a bit of a head-start on most courses though. No complaining here!

Offcourse, the latest creations:

(almost as good as the pasta at home..)

(cauliflower, chipped & baked potatoes, tomato, herbs)

(this week's winner: peas, carrots wokked, chipped potatoes)

Managed to squize-in a visit to piccadilly circus (just for the fun of it):

flatmate!

Finally, somebody else has shown up.

He's got a name that's kind of funny and has an indian background. But he seems like a really nice guy. Only one more flatmate to arrive!

Yesterday I went downstairs and had an evening chat with the people there, talked for 4 hours, nice folks.

Today I'm planning on going to the science museum and having another city-trip. We'll see how that works out.

ebay and selling and bank accounts

Recently I've been trying to sell an item on ebay.

Seems reasonably easy in these modern times. Wel, it is, except when your current maestro has an account in Belgium.
Moving and selling, it's not what you'd expect.

Nothing much to post recently really, think I'm gonna take my camera to school and show off some of our classrooms.

Forms, forms, questions, landphones asked that you never had... jolly good fun

Fighting temptations

Today I found out about a record store located about 2 minutes from my college.

It's not just the kind of everyday-only-top50-don't-Really-care-about-what-we're-selling music store. It's the kind of store where I could go and spend 5 hours in a row discovering discount-cd's and records I always wanted to buy but never really found.
The kind of retro "real" record store (they even sell vinyl). It's called -flash back-

That's gonna be fighting temptations.. well, things could be worse.

Still no sign of any flat mates at all, wonder if they will ever show up.
Let's listen to music, let's have a drink, let's watch some tv, let's go to sleep. (really tired)

Let's go to school

Well, today at 10am I visited my school for the first time. I gotta say, there's a really great atmosphere going on there. The classes have a maximum size of about 10 and there are teachers and staff available 24/7! On top of that they all seem to be véry capable and driven, what more could you ask for? Alltough that's all very nice, there are some drawbacks..

My theory lessons start at 3pm, that's all fine. My practical sessions start at 6am.. now that's a whole different story.

Guess I'm just gonna get used to that. Not this week though, my first practical sessions start next week (fiew).

On another note: some guys came by tonight asking me if I wanted to get a drink. They were staying in the block next door and where having a meeting night with all the guys that were on the same course (not mine). I joined them anyway and finally had some more people to talk to. Really a nice bunch.

Did I cook today?

Offcourse I did:
(today, noodles with chinese veg's and some mixed beef)

(yesterday, tortellini with turkey. It didn't tast as I expected it to do though)

Day off

What a plan.

Stayed in bed till half past ten, set up my guitar, had lunch, went to the store to get vegetables, cooked (rosmary-thym-potatoes with turkey and tomato sauce).

By the way, the biscuits around here aren't what you would expect. It's not just biscuit, its two biscuits patched together by a generous layer of pure butter. Just one will make your hunger disappear.

I was about to do the dishes when the fire alarm went off in the flat-block next door, which seems to be a convenient way to get to know people.
It was arround 20pm. Right now (three hours later) it's still doing it's thing.. I guess the dishes will have to wait 'till tomorrow.

As you might notice, I've got to much time on my hands. This will very likely end when my course starts on monday. Untill then I'll be on vacation.

Right thén left

Basic rule for getting arround: first look right, then left, first right, thén left.
I keep on repeating it in my head, and I keep on forgetting it when crossing..

2 goals for today:
- finally opening an UK bank account for financials
- doing the 'tourist' thing

Goal one didn't go as planned as the local branch kept having computer problems. I was sent over to another branch, had to fill out a form, they will get in touch when the system will be able to properly process my enquiery..
If it was possible to send me an e-mail? No, we don't use the internet, we'll give you a call on your cell phone. London banking '09 for you all.

Goal two was much more of a joy. I took the piccadilly tube to covent garden where I mingled with the tourists.

That's what you call a classic london-shot for you. After covent garden my battery died so below you can see all the photos of my tour..

After covent garden I went to St. Paul's cathedral, walked the millenium bridge, saw the tower bridge, had a look at tate modern and ate my lunch trying to find finsbury park (got lost in the neigbourhood and returned because of tired feet). Talking about a london's day out.
